The Door of No Return - Part I

The fort at Cape Coast, Ghana, is a somber place, where thousands upon thousands of West Africans were held in dungeons and then shipped to the New World as slaves. Africans would be led through this door, put into small boats, and rowed out to ships anchored offshore. But the scene beyond this gloomy corridor was such a wonder that I returned to it five days in a row.
